If passed on parents had passed on, and i inherit the HDB.

[1] if I had inherited for 5 years and intend to sell, do I also inherited the accurred interested from the time I inherited frm my parents hdb?

[2] I inherited from my parents and do not sell away until my own passing, with a will to state to sell off and split the earnings (if there is). If there is accurred interrest and the Total to refund back (CPF withdrawn + Accurred interest) is more than the HDB Value, will the inherited person need to pay back the difference back to CPF?

Hi there,
I believe there is a misunderstanding on your part with regards to the accrued interest. This Interest in usually charged by CPF on the amt paid towards the owners outstanding housing loan and credited into the owners CPF account. In the case of inherited properties. Their CPF account would have been cleared and closed off and any outstanding accrued interest on their CPF cleared together. Before the scenario you have mentioned above is not likely to happen at all. if you need any more clarification. Afternoon

I am sorry to hear about your loss, hope you are managing well.

In this scenario, the CPF accounts OA SA MA RA will be closed by CPF board upon demise of the account holder. The CPF utilized + accrued interest of the property will no longer be needed to refund to the demised owner cpf account, and will become part of the sale cash proceeds to be received when the HDB is sold. So you need not be concerned.

If you had inherited the HDB for 5 years, it means that the HDB has already transferred to your name. If you have not utilised any CPF monies for this flat, there is no accrued interest to talk about, and since the property is now under your name, it is up to you to will to the next beneficiary. 1. When an owner passes away, their CPF accounts (OA, SA, MA, RA) are closed, and any outstanding housing loan balance and accrued CPF interest are written off.
2. The CPF amounts previously used for the property, along with any accrued interest, no longer need to be refunded to the deceased's CPF account.
3. Instead, these amounts become part of the cash proceeds from the sale of the property, so there’s no need to worry about repaying CPF in this situation.
