If agreed verbally and through WhatsApp related to renewal of lease , is it valid? Renewal of tenancy has gone but papers are not yet signed. Already being asked to paid and also Paying new rental. After 3 month of new rental paid , asked to vacant the place in one month time? What should be done? Is this correct?
I have been staying in same house from past 5 years. Every year our signing of lease agreement use to be late as landlord agent delays it , shows some or the other reasons. This year took turn.
Senario: we had shown our interest to continue with tenancy for another 2 years before 3 months of expiration of tenancy. Landlord agent came thrice and agreed verbally and one message on WhatsApp chat states as well, that they are ok if we continue and some problems asked to fixed will be taken care off. Our renewal date is gone and now all of sudden agent tells us to vacate the place (Note: we were asked to pay revised rates) As per landlord agent there is no binding of contract
We were doing our follow ups on renewal. Max of time calls were not picked ,messages were not replied or made excuses.
came twice to check, brought in contractor(after our lease expirations) Now after 3 months of new revised rates paid , agent messages and says landlord wants to renovate house and vacant property.
Agent says there is no binding of contract so have to vacant place or pay per day charge.
