I signed 1+1yr lease. I’ve dealt with LL's agent on ALL matters. +-6wks ago, I asked if I could make an arrangement to not pay the last month's rental&set it off against my deposit. I’m leaving Singapore after my work assignment. Our company keeps last 2salaries to offset against IRAS and I knew financially it will be a challenge. The property is up for sale. Buyers have been to view&the agent has been there at least 20times& have seen I've maintained the apartment well. The agent said it would not be a problem, he would make arrangements with the LL. 2days ago I received a text from the LL's daughter "pay the rent or we sue you". The LL's agent who gave me the ok then sent me a text AFTER I called him again "LL says pay or ...." I've got 2wks left on my lease. I'm packed and due to leave Singapore. I have not yet received a clearance certificate from IRAS and won't be able to make that arrangement for rental, which is exactly why i made the request 6wks ago. What can I do?
