I live with my parents and brother in a 3-room HDB in Bukit Batok and we are looking for options to upgrade into a bigger living space such as a 4-room EC. Can I understand the exact mechanics of this upgrading process? Do we wait till the EC is built before selling off our HDB? Also, after applying for the EC, do we have to fork out the down payment immediately? What is the average pricing for a 4-room EC that is near the MRT (not LRT) station? If I take up this option as a joint-owner, does this mean I will not be able to qualify for BTO HDB in future should I want to get married?
