Hi
Going to the police will be to the extreme.
Try contacting the agent thru official email to get a written record. And to put in the next email that you will be getting a locksmith to open up the letter box and to change it to a new lock and all charges will be deducted from the next rental amount. But be sure that you have given a 14 days notice and there is a black and white record for this. keep receipts. This is according to contract and you have your rights to repair the letter box that is without a letter box key.
It will be better than going to the police and making things really ugly. And it is not expensive to break and repair the letter box. I cannot remember how much will it cost, but call a locksmith at a weekday and at daytime and not urgent call, will be lower cost. You may need to show to the locksmith that you are the rightful tenant of this unit at this period.
With the rental deducted, landlord will either look for that agent or look for you, then you may explain what had happen to the landlord, with all the black and white proof of unaccessible letter box and to pass one letter box key to lanldord ... and the agent will come knocking at your door now.
Hope able to help you settle your problem.
