Dear Christine, When you mentioned not signing any provisional agreement, can i further confirmed that you have not even put in a letter of intent? It is difficult to judge if you can claim back your deposit as there is no black and white recording the terms and conditions. All are based on words between yourself and the landlord. I would advise you to seek assistance from a legal professional should you wish to pursue this issue and landlord is unwilling to return the deposit. If you have engaged the services of a salesperson, he or she should be in a right capacity to advise you what your rights are if he has handled the transaction.
