I have an issue which has been dragging for so long.My bf is a work permit holder and has been cheated by his ex-landlord.
It was his first time renting an entire HDB unit and at the flat viewing, he was repeatedly assured by the landlord and agent that the landlord had applied to HDB for approval of lease and will be approved soon (it is illegal to rent out whole HDB unit without getting the approval). He even to took out the old document from his previous lease from a few years ago to prove his point.
Signed the TA and afterthat, every month my bf would ask the landlord to get him and his housemates registered at HDB so that their WP can be renewed/issued. But the landlord insisted that the approval is still pending. This carried on for a long time, and we did not have any info nor resources, so no choice.
My bf also called HDB to sought for help but they are unable to reveal much info.
