I bought the condo from seller 2 months ago. After payment, MCST sent me invoice of payment due from seller since 2 years ago! How can I proceed to handle this situation? Is there any legal recourse or law to protect me as a buyer?

Hi Joseph,

Is the legal completion over? If not, you may wish to consult your conveyancing firm to do the necessary deductions from the purchase price to pay this fees, as stipulated in the law society conditions of sale if they are included as part of the OTP contract. If the legal completion is done, it may be more complicated. You will have to check with your conveyancing firm on why they didn't pick up on this during the conveyancing process.

Hope the above clarifies. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so as to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Yes the legal completion is done.
I did consult my lawyer and they are on it to validate with the seller’s law firm to pull physical evidence of payment made.
