I am waiting for a BTO in Toa Payoh with my gf (now ex-gf). My parents currently own a private property in Toa Payoh and are not intending to sell it. I would like to form a family nucleus with my elderly parents while staying together in the new BTO while we rent out the condominium. Is this possible and have you had any success in similar appeal letters?

Hi,

The official ruling is one has to wait out a 30 month period after private property disposal before they can apply for BTO. Hence, for your case, chances maybe slim but no harm trying. Though even if the appeal goes through, my guess is your parents will still be required to sell their condo. Thanks and hope it helps, hope to have the opportunity to work together in the future.

Hi Sir,

For getting the BTO forming under family nucleus will need to dispose the current private property that your family owned and there are 30 months period before can apply for a BTO. However, you may try to appeal though the chance of getting might be slim. Hope this clarified.

Evening,

Your parents are existing owners of private property hence they will need to wait for 30 months before they are eligible to purchase BTO unit. Therefore, it would be likely that you will have to forgo the unit along with the deposit.

Hi Sir,

I'm afraid this is not possible.

Firstly, your parents are owners of private residential housing, and are not eligible to apply for BTO flats unless they dispose off their private condo and wait out for 30 months.

Secondly, you applied the BTO flat with your ex-gf. Unfortunately, HDB do not allow a change of name in the application. Hence, the likelihood is that you will have to forfeit the BTO.
