I am Singaporean working in Singapore and my husband is Malaysian currently working in Malaysia. We intend to purchase a HDB unit and would like some re-verification after perusing HDB website.

1. Are we eligible to purchase BTO with/without Social Pass for my husband? (If yes, can we start the application process now?)

2. If not allowed to purchase BTO, are we eligible for resale now without the Social Pass? If so, are we also eligible for any grants considering this is our first matrimonial home together?

We do not own any other properties currently.

Hi buyer,

To give you a summarised answer,
1) yes if he has a social visit pass, but only 2-room flexi flats, if you're eligible
2) he needs a social visit pass for resale as well

Evening,

Be it buying BTO or resale HDB unit, you are only eligible for purchase under non-citizen spouse scheme. Should you fall below the age of 35, your spouse will require a long term visit pass. As you are SC, you will be eligible for $15k grant should your income falls below $6k.

Good evening buyer,

Do take note that you can purchase with your foreigner spouse under non citizen spouse scheme for both BTO and resale applications. But bear in mind that only your income will be taken into consideration for mortgage application.

Yes for both transactions, he will require a social visit pass and if you are below 35 years old, he will require a long term visit pass.

Btw for BTO application, you can only apply 2RM flats in non mature estates. If you prefer a bigger flat, resale will be ideal for you.

Last of all, you can obtain up to $15k singles grant if your income is up to $6k.
