I am looking to buy a ready-to-move-in Condo, preferably a Studio/1BR/2BR unit in the East, close to Changi Business Park. I am a foreigner working in Singapore for the past 8 months. I can put down about a $100000 as cash down payment with the rest taken as a loan from a bank. My budget for the property is about 500k-700k. Kindly advise.

Hi Abhishek,

Assuming the $100k cash downpayment is calculated based on 80% loan, the quantum of the purchased unit works out to be $500k.

Have you included into your purchase plan, the Additional Buyer Stamp Duty you will be subjected to based on the new regulations?

Generally speaking, if you are not particular if the property is leasehold or freehold, you have quite a good range of choices based on $700k budget.

My advise is that it will be more appropriate if you are able to talk to a qualified financial professional on your financial commitment towards this purchase before making the next move.

Hi Abhishek,

For a $500,000 condo, you will need cash $165,000. This amount is calculated on your 13% Stamp Duty and the 20% cash upfront. I believe you do not have CPF for that 15%. Bank can loan you 80%
