I am in my mid 40s and staying in a 5-rooom HDB flat in Hougang, which is fully paid for. I am considering to buy a 3-bedroom unit in a new EC in Punggol. Colleagues have advised me to go for a private condominium instead, as the psf for the new EC is about S$750psf. I am in a dilemma. Can anyone enlighten me?

Afternoon KC,

To purchase a new EC, you are required to sell off your current HDB unit, within 6 months from key collection. This would deprive you of possible passive income.
You can choose resale or brand new condo, that falls within your budget. You get to enjoy the privacy and facility that's similar or better than EC, yet get to keep your HDB unit.
On the other hand, if you need the money from the sales so as to facilitate the purchase, we would need to sit down and work the sums.

Do feel free to contact me if you require further assistance.
