I am deciding to either buy a private property or a hdb flat,
Can my daughter, owning a hdb flat,
inherit : 1. my private property
2. My hdb flat.
Or, Son owning private property inheriting my hdb flat.
What are the restrictions currently from hdb n Inheriting either of these.
Can I, at age 74 buy 5 room bto flat without income statement?

Hi,

Daughter owns an HDB flat:
1) When your daughter completed her MOP of the current HDB flat. She is able to inherit and keep both HDB flats and private residential property.
2) Your daughter can still inherit your HDB flat, but she can only decide to keep one of them provided she is eligible under the HDB scheme.

Son owns private residential property:
1) Your son can inherit your HDB flat while owning private residential property. But he has to sell either the HDB flat or the current private property upon inheritance.

The current rules of the HDB flat are:
1) Anyone eligible under the HDB eligibility scheme can own an HDB flat.
2) No one shall own 2 HDB flats, this is to ensure no one is deprived of owning an HDB flat because someone else owns more than 1 HDB flat.
3) All SC after meeting the HDB MOP is allowed to own private residential properties.
4) All SC cannot own any private residential properties before meeting the HDB MOP, not even act as a trustee for a trust holding a private residential property.

1) You may purchase BTO or resale a 5-rm flat without an income statement, but must be fully paid off.

Hi,

If you purchase a HDB flat, both your children can inherit the HDB flat. Your daughter will have the choice to sell off one of the HDB flats if she inherits your flat. Your son will have to sell off either the inherited HDB flat, or his private condo upon the inheritance.

If you purchase a private property, your daughter can inherit the private property if she fulfills the 5-year MOP of her HDB flat. She need not sell off both her HDB flat and the inherited private property if she had met the 5-year MOP. Your son will be able to inherit your private property without selling off his own private property too.

You can purchase a 5RM BTO flat if you meet all the eligibility conditions of applying for a BTO flat. Loan is not mandatory when making property purchases, you can pay in full cash.

Hi,

If you purchase a private property, at the point of their inheritance, your daughter can keep the private property provided she has met the MOP of 5 years, and your son can keep both private properties as well.

If you purchase a HDB flat, at point of inheritance, both your daughter and son has to decide which property to keep, and have to sell off one of the properties.

If you choose to apply for a BTO, you need not produce income statement if you are not applying for loan. It can be in full cash and or CPF OA. Do note you must not sold private properties in the last 30 months and have not purchased more than 2 subsidized HDB housing.
