Hi Jamie,

If you were to jointly purchase the next private property, ABSD will be on the higher stamp duty rate of the 2 purchasers (ie. 7% on SC 2nd property). Hence its more advisable to purchase on your sole name since ABSD will only be 5%. Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans further.

Hi Jamie, in your case, it would be ideal if you could be the sole owner of the new property that you are going to purchase. Reason is that you be paying lesser ABSD at 5% and also, you could be able to loan up to 80% from most banks.

As a SPR, you will be subject to 5% ABSD for your first property purchase.

If it's a joint purchase between your spouse and you, it will be 7% ABSD (higher of 7% as SC for second property and 5% as SPR for first property).
