I am 60 years old staying in a 4rooms hdb flat intend to sell after that where does my selling money goes to. After that can I take out the money to purchase another 4room hdb flat in open market with necessity renovation cost

Hi Sir/Mdm,

After the sale, the CPF that you have utilised so far on the flat will go back into your CPF account. As you are above the age of 55 years old, you will need to fulfill the retirement sum and if there are excess funds, you will be able to withdraw from CPF as cash.

As for the purchase, you will still be able to use a portion of your CPF account to finance the purchase. It is important to figure out the numbers to see whether it is worthwhile to make the move due to your age as loan may not be an option.

The calculations for those above 55 differs from normal. In general, once you sold your flat, you are required to retain a sum from the proceeds equivalent to your full retirement sum in your retirement account. The balance can be cashed out. Typically, CPF board will allow you usage of an amount in excess of your basic retirement sum for the purpose of purchasing the next house.
