How often are people being told off or given excuses that a unit isn’t available after disclosing one’s nationality ? I thought property guru takes a firm stance on any form of discrimination? Is there a way the platform can actually enforce this in some manner- it’s frustrating to be written off because one is from a certain country / countries.

Dear sir/mdm,

I can understand your frustrations as I have clients who are also being rejected from renting certain apartments by the landlords. While PropertyGuru does not allow agents to explicitly state such considerations, there is nothing agents can do if the landlords specifically do not consider certain profiles, and there is no control over such restrictions since they are the owners of the property and they can impose preferences accordingly.

It will be better off to filter off these profiles instead of proceeding to arrange for viewing appointments where time and effort will be spent in attending the viewing before having the offers rejected.

Surely PropertyGuru (and agents) should refuse to show a listing when it is found that a landlord is refusing to let certain people rent the property based on race or nationality? Just blaming racist landlords is not helpful and enables racist practices to continue.
