If you have held the property for more than 4 years, there are no seller stamp duties payable. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Dear Mr Zhang,

Seller's Stamp Duty is only applicable in the following scenario:

1) If you have purchased this condo on or after 11th March 2017, the seller's stamp duty applicable will be 12% of the sale price should you sell it within the first 12 months, 8% if sold between 12 to 24 months and 4% if you sell it between 24 - 36 months. No Seller's Stamp Duty is applicable thereafter.

2) If you have purchased this condo between 14th January 2011 to 11th March 2017, the seller's stamp duty applicable will be 16% of the sale price should you sell it within the first 12 months, 12% if sold between 12 to 24 months, 8% if you sell it between 24 - 36 months and 4% if you sell between 36-48 months. No Seller's Stamp Duty is applicable thereafter.

Hi Mr Zhang,

For selling, Seller's Stamp Duty (SSD) is applicable for 3 or 4 years depending on when you exercise the option to purchase the property. If you purchase it before 10th March 2017, the SSD is staggered over 4 years from 16% to 4% depending on when you sell. If you purchased the property on or after 11th March 2017, the SSD is staggered over 3 years from 12% to 4%.

The amount of Seller Stamp Duty (SSD) you are liable will depend on when did you purchased this property, not how many properties you owned.

If you had purchased this property more than 4 years ago, then it is safe to say that you will not incur any SSD.

If you had bought this property within the last 3-4 years, you will be liable for SSD, the amount of SSD due will depend on the exercised date of the purchase vs the exercised date for the sale.
