How can a prospective tenant of an HDB unit ensure that his tenancy transactions (especially his advance payment of rent deposit by cheque) is not with a rogue or bogus Landlord who will later run away with the deposit and leave behind a sham tenancy agreement. In other words, how can one ensure that the landlord is the legal rightful owner of the HDB unit?
