Hi,if foreigners want to buy house in Singapore for long investment purpose, is it required to self occupied house instead of renting out to get some return periodically, besides capital appreciation? Thanks

Hi,

Foreigners can purchase most condo developments, they need not stay there and can rent out/purchase for investment. For landed houses, they are required to apply for approval from SLA and subjected to some criteria. Thanks and hope to assist with your purchase further.

Dear sir/madam,

In general there are 2 types of investors in residential properties here in Singapore where they focus either mainly at good rental returns or good potential capital appreciation. There is no restriction on whether it is self occupied or rented out for private residential properties (less landed homes for foreigners). The difference to self occupation over renting it out is the applicable property tax. If you are looking at properties with excellent potential for future capital appreciation, do get in touch with me soon.
