Hi,
We will be looking for a rental in Sept/Oct for my family. I will be coming to Singapore early to sort out a rental. How long after you apply for a rental can you move in? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Daniel,

By being early, does it mean that all necessary visa status have been approved for all occupants? Prospectve landlords will only agree to a deal if you have the necessary visas to stay in Singapore. If these are settled, I'd suggest you to come over 1 to 1.5 months before your official move-in date. Do take note that depending on the length of tenancy you are looking for, you'll need to prepare between 1-2 months upfront security deposit to the landlord to secure the premises and advance rental to be paid to landlord upon moving in, up to 1 month rental as the agent's fees + GST as well as stamp fees for the tenancy agreement. Last but not least, you'll also need to apply to open an account for your utilities (power, water and gas supply) with deposit amount.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to let me know.
