Hi we are going overseas for work and we wanted our friend to stay over the house to look after it while we are away. We will not charge her any rental as the house is still less than MOP and not allowed for rent. Do we need to inform hdb for this? Thanks

Hi GreatVine,

It is deem illegal in fact but you may contact HDB branch office of your estate and see what are the options you have.

Hi GreatVine,

1) The MOP will stop clocking once you are no longer staying in your flat.
2) It is your wish to allow anybody to stay in the flat without paying any fees. There is nothing wrong with it.
3) But it will be deemed illegal when you are faking you are still staying there so that MOP continue clocking.
