Hi! Just a heads-up — HDB flats cannot be rented out before reaching the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP). This is a firm HDB rule, even if you're both working overseas.

If your flat hasn't reached MOP yet, you're not allowed to rent out the whole unit, and applying for approval will likely be rejected.

However, if:

You’ve hit MOP but you're still unsure how to proceed from overseas, or

You’re considering renting out rooms (not the whole unit) (which may be subject to MOP status too),

then yes, there are agents experienced in handling rental arrangements for overseas owners — including marketing, paperwork, and even property handover on your behalf via Power of Attorney.

Yes this requires appeal but if approved, do note that during the renting out period, MOP will stop counting and be paused. You will also have to appoint a legal power of attorney in Singapore for this process and to secure hdb approval.

You will need to obtain HDB's approval to sublet the whole unit prior to marketing the property. I have just done a similar case earlier this year for a unit in Bukit Panjang.
