Hi there, like to check on inheritance regulation on HDB. Assuming a person inherit a fully paid HDB flat from parent but he/she already own a private property, can he/she retain both property or need to dispose either one.

Dear sir/madam,

Thank you for writing in.

It depends on when the inherited property was purchased by its previous owner. If you had inherited a non-subsidised HDB flat bought before 30 August 2010 by its previous owner, you can retain ownership of both the private property and the HDB flat.

You may refer to this link at http://askhdb.hdb.gov.sg/Themes/HDB/Answers.aspx?MesId=19511920&From=Show&TOPV=YES&VMesID=4823244 to find out more details on eligibility to retain the inherited unit.

I have been in the real estate industry since 2009, primarily dealing in residential homes like sale and rental of HDBs and private condos/apartments. Should you require further advise or assistance, I am glad to be able to assist further.

Hi,

Yes its possible but there are certain conditions attached. If its a non subsidized flat bought by previous owner before August 2010, generally no issue with inheriting the property. There is an article that touch on this issue, may I know how do I get in touch to share more?

May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.
