Hi there!

I am currently working overseas and have no plans on returning to Singapore in the near future. I own a HDB flat and currently, only my son (not owner) is occupying one room in the flat.

I am thinking of renting out the vacant rooms. Any advice if this will be legal and possible? I read on HDB website that all owners and occupiers need to still stay in the flat while subletting rooms.

Thank you!

Hi, you could still rent out rooms but not the whole house, unless you have already physically stayed in the house for 5 years (MOP) before you moved overseas.

Good evening,

As you are renting out one of the room, instead of whole unit, it would be viable to do.

Do feel free to contact me should you require additional assistance.
