Hi, My wife and I have not purchased any flats before and have never owned/sold any flats or houses.
We are considering a resale HDB.

After min occupancy period, should we decide to go for an EC, will we be still eligible for the CPF housing grant for EC as 1st timer? Are we still considered 1st timer?

Hi,

As long as you have not taken any subsidy or grant for the resale flat, you be considered 1st timer. You also need to fulfil the EC grant eligibility conditions by then, which currently stands as income not to exceed 12k/mth and all must be 1st timers.

If your eventual goal is to get a new EC, you should take action now, as the EC scheme and its relevant grants are not a guarantee and it will not be available indefinitely. Just like the DBSS scheme, it can be suspended anytime if the government chooses to do so.

Good morning,

As long as you do not take housing grant for this purchase, you can apply for EC as first timer after fulfilling the MOP on the HDB unit that you intend to purchase. Do note that you will be required to sell away your HDB unit within 6 months of key collection on the EC.

I assume both of you are Singaporeans. As long as you do not take any grant for your resale HDB flat, you will be considered a first-timer.

Should you consider an EC, you will have to meet all the eligibility conditions, which includes income ceiling etc.
