It appears he has not done an LPA, hence you might have to apply to the courts to be appointed a Deputy to manage his affairs. Estimated fees and processing time is on a case-by-case basis, as there are certain conditions to prove that he has no the mental capacity to manage his property. Its more advisable to speak to a law firm on the best approach.

Good afternoon,

Based on your father's mental condition, you will need to work with doctor to obtain medical report and lawyer to obtain the court order under the Mental Capacity Act. Someone, likely the child or spouse would be appointed as the sponsor, so as to take care of your father's decision and daily necessity. The entire process would take around 4 to 7 months, depending on the doctor's diagnostic and the content of the court order.
