Hi, my husband and I own a fully-paid HDB flat. We are planning to decouple so that one of us can purchase a private property without paying ABSD. We have already met the MOP, and have also confirmed with HDB that we are eligible to transfer the flat ownership to one of us.
Our HDB flat is currently rented out, and HDB states that we have to terminate the subletting once we submit the application for the transfer of flat ownership. A new subletting application needs to be submitted once the transfer transaction is completed. At the same time, HDB did confirm to me that we can sublet our flat again after the transaction is completed.
My question is: Is there any way we can go ahead with the transfer application without terminating our tenant's stay? It seems silly to terminate it for just 2 months. I also want to avoid 're-touching' my flat for new tenant or looking for new tenant. Any experience/suggestion to share? Thanks.
