Hi just trying my luck here but would appreciate any help. My room rental contract was one year with minimum 3 months occupation and one month advance notice. Due to change of workplace, I have to shift out from the current room. When I clarified with my landlady on whether she was ok with pro-rating the rental for the 4th month if I were to move out before the full 4 months term (because I was unclear of whether the min 3 month occupation is inclusive of the notice period), she said okay (This agreement was clearly documented as messages with time stamps on Whatsapp and she even calculated the pro-rated rental and said she consulted her agent) and hence I moved on to sign the new contract with the agreed shift-out date. Later she went back on her words and demanded me to pay the full month rental for the last 4th month. Wondering if legally I can defend myself in any ways? Thanks.

Hi, yes you can choose not to pay in full too if you have enough evidence to support your case.
