hi, I'm getting hitched this November, however I currently have my name in a HDB with my mum and servicing a loan. my fiancee, is also in the same situation however she's still in the MOP period. the HDB is co-owned with her Dad and fully paid for. I understand that for a couple to get married they can only have 1 matrimonal home, which then means that either of us need to relinquish ownership of either of our HDBs. the problem is that my fiancee cant take out her name since she's tied down by MOP, whereas i, my mum will need to refuind my CPF contribution (100k and up) to me. what if my mum doesn't have 100K to provide back to me, and given my fiancee's MOP does that mean we cannot get married ? if that' the case it's such a predicament i'm in!

Afternoon Leslie Under the current HDB regulation, married SC couple are only eligible for own one HDB unit at any point of time. To purchase a unit on your own would mean that both of you need to have the name removed from the current unit and HDB would require you to update them on your status. hi. thanks for your response. i know that married couples can only have 1 hdb at any point in time however in my situation both of us already have HDB units co-living with parents. when we get married but not getting our own home is that possible or will be be forced to remove either 1 name?
Dear Mr Poon, Good day to you!! Congrats to your coming wedding in November that you are still able to get marry but are not able to obtain or purchase to own HDB as both your names are individual tied up with a HDB flat now. Alternatively, you and your spouse may appeal directly to HDB for your cases like this, or you can purchase private property with additional cash involved. If you need any further assistance and queries to your situation now, you can contact me at 9029 4911  or email agnestan77@gmail.com All the best! Warmest Regards, Agnes Tan Read More
