Hi,
I'm currently a co-owner of a HDB flat with my parents. I would like to purchase a second property but doesn't want to pay the ABSD.
Can I remove my name from the HDB? I understand I need to pay back CPF that I used, with interest. What else do I need to consider? The HDB does not have any outstanding loan, hence loan will not be a problem for my parents.

Hi investor,

It would be considered as a resale of part-share by your parents and you, and they'd have to pay back the CPF sum that you have utilised, together with accrued interest; if there are sufficient funds in their CPF OA, it shouldn't be an issue.

I have attached a link taken from HDB website. You need to seek approval from HDB to withdraw your name from the ownerhip.

Yes your parents have to refund whatever CPF OA funds you had utilised in the flat either in cash, CPF or loan.

Hi,

You need to get approval from HDB to do this transfer of ownership. Once obtained, your parents need to return the cpf utilized and accrued interest used by you for this current flat. They must be able to finance the property on their names thereafter. Thanks and hope to value-add to your housing plans further and understand your requirements.
