    Hi there. Would the rental rate from the studio bedroom be on par with a studio apartment of similar size and in the same location assuming that condition/furnishings of both are the same? Or does a separate studio apartment fetch a higher rental rate?

This is actually a good idea. You get your own privacy, while the rental from the studio can be used to assist you in the monthly mortgage payment.

The rental you can expect depends on the location of the property. It can be in the range of $1500 to $2500.

The rental of an individual studio unit is comparable to one that is part of a dual key unit. Ultimately, the rental depends on the location of the property and how near the property is to amenities such as MRT stations.

I would like to highlight to you a project with 3 bedroom and 4 bedroom dual key units which is going to be completed in 1Q 2018. It is centrally located within an area with exciting developmental plans in the near future. More importantly, this project has got very good facilities and within 5 min walk to an MRT station and is a few stops away from town.

Most importantly, prices are very reasonable at $13xx psf only!

Dear Stella,

I just rented out a studio apartment from a dual key unit in Kovan for $1550. Unit is brand new and within 5-7min walk to Kovan MRT.

Generally, a standalone studio unit will have slightly better rental because of privacy. Do take note that you will also need to work out a solution on how to split the SP services bills if the dual key unit only comes with 1 meter for electricity and water.
