Hi,

I'm a co-owner of a 4-room resale HDB unit, bought with mum about 18 years ago. The previous house was bought by parents, first-hand from HDB. Now I want to get a brand new unit, but it would mean I could only do it as a sole owner in order not to pay for mum's levy (on previous flat). Does it mean I would only be able to get a 2-room? It might not be enough for our family of 4. I'm really hoping I could enjoy the 'benefit' of direct purchase fr HDB; grants etc...

Hi Xavier,

If you currently married, you can't apply for 2-rm BTO direct from HDB as its only for Single SC. If you are referring to applying with your parents again for the new BTO, unfortunately no as the resale levy is still applicable since their names must be added for the family nucleus application to be eligible for the scheme. You can consider to write an appeal to try to ask for an waiver, but chances may be slim and it will be on case by case basis. Its likely they will ask you to look at resale HDB instead. May I have more info and requirements about your plans so to make better recommendations? Thanks and look forward to value-add to your housing plans.

Afternoon,

You are looking at getting a BTO unit on your own means that you are still single. If that is the case, you can only opt for 2 room flat. And to do that, you will need to perform part sales to your mother.
