Hi, I responded to a room rental online posting lately. The agent who posted this indicated the room was not available anymore. However, he asked if I would be interested to view another room he had on-hand, which I took up after viewing. After this, he indicated that I would be liable to pay 50% commission (half-mth rental), while he would be charging the owner "management fee" since they would be overseas. As I understand that agent should only be representing one party, which he clarified was me in this case, while he would charge the owner management fee. May I know if this is an industry practice? Thanks.

Dear sir/madam,

Perhaps you may highlight this case to the council of estate agencies as they will be in a best position to advise you.
