Hi. I own private property and currently I am also renting at a condo for the past one year. Do I need to change my address to the rental property address? Is it mandatory? The management at the condo that I am renting insist that I should change the address on my IC to the renting address. Please advice. Thank you.

Hi, the MCST don’t have the right to check your IC. The name stated on the TA as well as the stamp duty cert is good enough as proof.

Hi,

Aaron is right. MCST has nothing to do with your address on ID.
This is under the jurisdiction of the police, just ignore them.

some condos do not issue resident's pass.
in order for security to verify if you are a legit resident, you must be able to produce one for such verification. And during off office hours and weekends where the mcst is closed, can you produce any verification?

perhaps this is why the mcst requires that your ID shows the condo address. Read More

may i also add that IF you are unable to produce a legit ID that shows you live there, the security guards do have the authority to deny you entry. Read More
