I own an 4-room fully paid HDB and recently bought condo. I paid about $160,000 in ABSD. I am now in a dilemma if i should rent out my HDB or sell it off. If rent out, the rental is about max $2,000. It will take about 8 year to recover back ABSD. Another option is to sell the HDB, and uses the money to invest in another smaller 1 or 2 bed room condo. I am weighing which option is more logical. Some advises never sell HDB as you cannot buy another HDB. But my HDB is left with 64 year lease and at most can sell for max $380K. Does it make sense to pay $160K ABSD for 64 year lease HDB value at $380K ? If i sell the HDB and invest in second condo using my spouse name, I can avoid ABSD, and assume about $1 million purchase price (probably have to take up $0.5 million loan), is it a better option? Hope the guru cam advise.
