Hi,
I hired an agent to work on my behalf as a potential tenant. He was able to find me a place and he was coordinating with the agent of the landlord.
I've been informed by several people that I don't need to pay my agent a fee since the commission fee from the landlord should be divided by the landlord's agent and my agent. My agent told me that the commission from the landlord is just for the landlord's agent and therefore different from commission coming from me.
What's the law on this?
The contract is 2 years, and if I have to pay one month's rent for the agent's fee, is there a hard rule on the schedule of payment? Do I need to pay the whole amount immediately? Or could I pay half when the contract has been signed, and the other half the following year?
