It is good to have these options available, but whatever you decide eventually will still depend on your needs.

If you require a big space to live in, then I would say go for a HDB flat. Do keep in mind that the bigger the space you have, the more tidying and house maintenance you need to do.

If you are fine with a comfortable area for a single guy, then my suggestion is go for a private condo. If you have the budget, you can also consider dual-key units, where you can rent out a portion of your house for rental income to help service your monthly mortgage installment.

Buying Resale HDB will provide good rental yield as the capital investment is significantly lower while the rental income is generally attractive. However, capital appreciation for resale HDB is low as compared to most private property bought direct from developer. Ultimately it will be up to your personal preference on which to choose after a more thorough financial assessment with a trusted banker.
