Hi, I am renting a HDB flat (already approved) from a relative as his family will be out of town for some time. If both of us agree the terms between us and do not wish to do a tenancy agreement, is that fine? We know the tenancy agreement is a safeguard for both parties in the event of disputes, but if both of us do not want to do it, is it fine? In other words, is tenancy agreement compulsory and required by the law? Can people choose not to do it?
