Hi,

I am a owner of a HDB 5-room flat with my mum as the occupier, and my wife have a HDB 3-room flat under her name as owner and her mum as co-tenant.

1. If we were to buy a resale HDB flat, what will happen to the 2 existing HDB flats that we have?

2. If we were to buy a private condo, what will happened to the 2 existing flats that we have? Can we still keep them?

Evening,

If both of you were to buy resale HDB unit together, both of you are required to sell the current HDB units which both of you are holding. And if you are looking at purchase of private property, the outcome would be depended on both your citizenship status. Being SC and having fulfilled the MOP, you will be eligible to purchase the private property without selling the HDB unit. However, you might only be eligible for 50% loan, if your current unit is still on mortgage. There will also be CPF minimum sum requirement to fulfill if you have utilize CPF for the HDB unit.

Hi there,

If you're looking to buy a HDB flat with your wife, you would need to sell off your respectively 5RM and 3RM HDB flats as each person can only hold onto one HDB flat.

However, there are ways which I may be able to help you get around this situation. I need you to provide me with more information before I can advise on this further.

And if you're looking to buy a private property, you do not need to sell off either HDB flats. You just have to pay ABSD as it will be your 2nd property purchase. You also need to take note of LTV and TDSR should you decide to go for a private property.

Good morning!

As most of my fellow colleagues have mentioned if you decide to purchase another HDB under both of your and wife's names, you will have to sell off both of your current HDBs.

If one of you is a SC, you can keep both HDBs and purchase the private property. As of now, there is no information about any upcoming project in Punggol. Do get in touch with me so if there's any news, I will update you.
