Hi,

It looks like you should try to apply BTO with your dad first and see how the result goes. There's an element of luck involved since its random balloting for getting an unit. If you manage to get to select a BTO unit, chances are you have to rent from open market for a few years until hdb completes construction. If you don't wish to wait, you can look out for a more affordable resale hdb (perhaps 3-rm) which paperwork can be completed in 4 months at the earliest.
