Good morning Elson,

You can approach your HDB branch office and apply to sell before MOP. It will be based on a case by case basis.

If not if you need to unlock funds from existing HDB to pay the initial outlay, you can start to market your unit 1 to 2 months before MOP then ink on OTP in Feb 2017 if you manage to secure a qualified buyer.

Do take note that you will be subject to resale levy if you are a second timer.

To sell within MOP period, you need to approach the hdb branch office for appeal, approval on case by case basis. Will be glad to assist with the appeal process. Hi Elson,

You'd need to appeal to HDB, but it's on a case-by-case basis, and you'd a pretty compelling reason to get it usually; otherwise, you can just wait till the last quarter of the year to start marketing your unit.

On a side note, if you're going to be charged a resale levy, so consider Lake Life @ Yuan Ching which is in the vicinity, as there wouldn't be any resale levy.

1. You may wish to write in to HDB to appeal. HDB grants approval on a case by case basis. If your reason is genuine, there is a chance that your MOP period will be waived.

Good afternoon Elson,

Sincerest apologies for the late reply as Propertyguru doesnt prompt me when there's any reply to my post.

By the way, you are absolutely right that you have to find temporary accommodation while waiting for construction to be completed if you have to sell to unlock funds to finance this purchase.

But doing so, you have to weigh the pros and cons if you sell early.

If you sell early, you can choose your ideal unit which is beneficial to you in the long term while short term, you might have to incur rental for a longer period unless you can bunk in with your relatives.

If you sell later, you might miss out on your favourite unit but save abit on the rental.

So the call is yours, Elson.
