Hi, Good evening.
Me and my wife own a condo, and we are thinking of decoupling the private property, so that my wife can purchase a HDB resale flat. Do you think is legally possible to do that?

Hi,

Its not possible as only unmarried singles 35 and above can purchase resale HDB on their own. In your case, you may wish to consider a 2nd smaller private property instead for investment. Thanks and hope to assist with your investment plans further.

It is not possible for resale flats. Perhaps you could utilise the same suggestion for your 2nd private property purchase for passive income. The cheapest unit starts from around $550+k.

Good afternoon buyer,

Do take note that you have to fulfill one of the HDB schemes in order to purchase a resale HDB.

As a married couple, she has to purchase it with you. You will then have to sell off your private property within 6 months from purchase completion.

I am not sure whether are you willing to wait 5 years of minimum occupation period then purchase a private property.

If not a better suggestion will be to decouple and purchase a private property under her name.

Btw do share withe me your intention in decoupling and purchase a second property? Investment?
