Hi everyone, I would like to ask if my main tenant asks me to move out just because I don't follow what he wants, not because of any illegal things, does he have the right to do so? We all agreed to rent a full HDB and I assumed my name should be listed in the tenancy agreement. He was just the one who signed the contract with the landlord. We don't have any sublet agreement as I understand it is illegal to rent an HDB.
He made his own rules and asked me to follow them such as his girlfriend could stay over whenever she wanted without noticing anybody in the house but my friend had to inform him for at least 1 week to stay over. Or he kept the letterbox key and tried to make trouble with me when I asked to take it to open the letterbox as my company will send me some letters for testing every day. He asked me to text him privately for the key although I asked in the group chat with other members if he could put the key on the table for everyone to use it if necessary. He gave me the key after I texted him privately then I kept it for a week as I needed to open the letterbox every day. All members of the house knew that and I always helped to collect and put their letters on the table every day. When I intended to return it that night, he came and knocked my door that afternoon and yelled to my face and even ordered me to put the key on the table while I said that I needed to use it and would return it tonight. Then he kept sitting in front of my room and followed me to the lift and kept saying bad words to me when I asked him not to follow me as I would return it soon.
I just need few months to complete my things here so I prefer to stay here but he keeps making trouble and setting more rules and arguing that I have to move out because I don't strictly follow his own rules. He keeps repeating that he is the main tenant here, he has the right to ask me to move out whenever he wants. He even asked me to show the chat between me and my friend to know about our journey so that my friend could come to the house.
So as a main tenant, does he have all the right to ask anyone to follow his own rules unless they will have to move out without proper reasons?
Thank you!
