You can look at the options from 2 main perspective:
(1) Residence Status: Assumption made: You are SC, your spouse holding LTVP:
(a) Option 1 - Resale HDB flat:
As long as you are 21 years, Singapore Citizen and above with your spouse holding LTVP (Long Term Visit Pass), you are eligible to purchase any resale HDB flat.
(b) Option 2 - New HDB flat (BTO):
You are only allowed to buy 2-room flexi flat.
(2) Income level
There are only income ceiling;
(a) >$12K per month are not allowed to purchase new BTO flat, or,
(b) Apply grant for resale HDB, except proximity grant.
I would suggest you check it out from HDB website:
www.hdb.gov.sg in order to understand the how much loan you can get from HDB.
To conclude, you are allowed to buy any resale flat type, and BTO (2-room flexi) with current status and salary, the choice is yours.
There are also types of payment terms for BTO & resale, and types of grant available that you should be aware off.
