Hi, Why go thru the hassle of renting an unapproved unit, as whatever one does against the law, one has no recourse. Imagine if the owner does something against you, u have no recourse. One also does not pay stamp duty on the tenancy, & the court of law does not recognise the tenancy.

Why end up as the losing party?

    Then what's the whole practise of locking one door of an HDB unit all about then? Can i assume it's an unapproved HDB unit if the owner locked one room (utility room) during our lease?is it a common practice in the industry?
