Yes absolutely you have to pay commission to your representative for the work he has done in finding the right property for you. Be it be HDB or private as a tenant or landlord.

Afternoon Allen,

If you are engaging property agent to assist you on the rental out and sourcing of rental unit, you will to pay him/her the commission respectively. This applies for both HDB and private rental.

As a salesperson assisting their clients to rent out or secure a place for rental, we depend on service fees (commissions) for survival, therefore you may wish to negotiate on the favourable commission scheme which is a win win situation for both you and the salesperson.
