hi agents, i understand that there is a Minimum Occupation Period of 5 years for hdb before you can sell. but can i do the valuation, go through the selling process stopping short of the paper work prior to that date ?

Good afternoon Royce,

You can only issue option to purchase after fulfilling MOP and 7 days after submitting the resale checklist to HDB.

In addition, nowadays only buyers can apply for valuation after agreed on the sale price with sellers. Sellers are not eligible to apply for valuation anymore.

Hi Royce, the contract has to be after the MOP of the unit you are staying. But what you could do is to allow the agent to market your unit first, and to further advice keen buyer on the MOP date before any signing is done.

Hi Mr. Royce,

As discussed only buyers can apply for valuation with valid Option to Purchase (OTP), and OTP can only be issued after MOP by seller, so unfortunately theres no workaround on this.

Evening Royce,

To be eligible to issue OTP, you must have submitted your resale checklist. If your unit have not fulfilled MOP, you will not be able to get this done. Hence to get the valuation done by the buyer, you might be still fall short of certain procedures.
