Good day everybody. I am a SPR from Malaysia who plan to buy a resale HDB in a few years time with my wife. At the same time, we have spotted a good property deal in Malaysia. Am i eligible to buy a resale HDB if i happened to own a property in Malaysia, if not in which way i can do in order to secure both deal. It would be much appreciated if anyone of you who had encountered this can give me some guidance.

Good morning,

For Singapore context, you will be required to remove your property ownership, local or overseas, within 6 months from key collection of your HDB unit. Hence you might want to purchase the Malaysia property under your parent's or sibling's name if you are looking at getting a HDB unit soon.

HDB policy, it a must to dispose your overseas in 6 months upon purchase a HDB flat except private property.

Do take note that you have to dispose off your overseas property within 6 months from resale HDB purchase completion.

If you dont wish to dispose off any overseas property, you might want to consider purchasing a private property instead.
