Good Afternoon,
I will be relocating to Singapore from London in July 2016. The school for our children is located in Bukit Batok and the office is located in the finanical district. Can you give me some guidance to the following questions?
Which location or location should we consider looking for a rental 4 bed property for maximum convenience to transport and facilities as well as work/school?
If we are moving in July 2016, how far in advance do we need to secure somewhere to live?
Is it easy to find service accomodation in the interm period?
What budget do you think we need to plan for in terms of rental accomodation?
What % is the standard deposit for rental accomodation?

HI,
Below is my input.
- for convenient, it will be good the property is near to MRT station. You can consider Jurong, Bukit Batok, Chua Chu Kang... more toward the west or north west of Singapore.
- generally you may start sourcing the property 2 month in advance
- service apartment can be easily located
- 4 to 5K price range for a good condo
- security deposit will be 1 month for each year lease

It would be convenient for your rental home to be near to MRT station. You could consider condo in Bukit Batok or Jurong. It would be good for us to correspond via email and i would be able to provide you with more information.

Dear Julia,

I supposed it will be easier to expect the adult to travel more than the child, therefore I will still encourage you to look at options nearer to the school instead of mid-point for the following reasons:

1) Rental is relatively cheaper in the far west as compared to the mid-point to both school and workplace. This difference can be used as the transportation allowance for the adult.

2) There is more heartland facilities and amenities near the school therefore cost of living is also cut down significantly.
