Asked by
Due to a recent family change I would need to move to a bigger place than my current one-bedroom

I'm 8 months into the 2-year lease and paid a deposit equivalent 2 months rent.

If I find someone who can take over the lease at the same rent, will I be able to recover the deposit, at least partially?

It will depend if landlord is agreeable to the replacement tenant. If landlord is agreeable, the incoming tenant will also be required to put down security deposit and advanced rental therefore arrangements of the refund of deposit you have paid can be made from that process.

Tenants can visit http://bit.ly/SGExpatRental (Official Rental Requirements - Singapore Expatriates) to indicate your rental requirements.
